Winners at Wireless
Posted: July 26, 2007 Filed under: News Leave a comment »Wireless Organizing Committee chairman Mary Garcia announced the winners of the games at last week’s Union Organizing Day at the wireless call center. Rachel Hodge won the $50 United gift card with 266 points and Malashan Love won the $50 Home Depot gift card with her score of 168 points. Congratulations to the winners.
Everyone can be a winner if each union member at the wireless call center will simply encourage one co-worker who is not a member to join the union. This simple act would take us over the top and put the union in a powerful bargaining position for the coming negotiations to renew our contract with the company.
Lunch with a Steward

Every week stewards will be available one day during lunch hours to answer questions and provide information. Stewards will be available on Wednesday from11:30 am to 4:30 pm. Drop by and visit. Bring a friend or a non-member you want to show the importance of membership.

Our own Mary Garcia recently attended a training for organizing leaders from area locals. Mary came back afire with ideas and energy. We have already seen the results in the Wireless Union Day and Stewards Lunch programs. That’s Mary in the back left with the red circle.

Wireless Steward Lunch

From 11:30 – 4:30 stewards will be available over their lunch hour to answer questions, provide information and demonstrate the importance of union membership.

Steward Training

District six representative and trainer Sylvia Ramos conducted steward training for ten stewards from AT&T and Cingular on May 4th and 5th. The two day training covered various aspects of steward knowledge and responsibilities to better prepare them for their duties.
