Notes from the January Membership Meeting

Attendance was good for the January membership meeting, during which the swearing-in of all of our current officers occurred.  Top among the issues of discussion were workplace security, mobility bargaining and attendance policies.  Additionally, a committee of retirees is being formed.  If you or anyone you know is retired from an AT&T company and would like to participate, please contact the Union Hall at 806-793-6203.

Have a question or concern?  Please consider attending our next meeting which will be held on Tuesday, February 7th at 6:30 PM.  If you are unable to attend and want to make sure your issue is addressed, please contact us at the Union Hall to make sure your concern is part of our discussion.

Who do you support for President?

Right now our national organization has a poll in place to determine who, if anyone, we would like to endorse in the upcoming presidential election.  If you have not already done so, please take a few moments to visit cwavotes.org and participate in the poll. Your opinion is extremely important on this matter, and this is the best way to make sure your voice is heard. Also, you can visit the main page for a summary of where the candidates stand on the issues.

The contract covering 9,400 Mobility workers in District 6 expires Feb. 24.
CWA District 6 Vice President Claude Cummings joined participants in discussing ways to build membership mobilization and support for organizing, and pledged support for T-Mobile workers trying to get their union.
Also at the meeting were two CWA-TU organizing committee members, technical care spets from T-Mobile in Frisco, Texas. Jamone Ross and Blake Poindexter talked about problems at their call center, including unattainable and constantly changing metrics, mass terminations and the lack of respect for workers on the job.
